If you’re a web support client of Albany Digital Services, you may have noticed a slight change in the admin section of your website. This is because all of our client sites have recently been updated to WordPress 3.7.1, which incorporates a few slight changes.
However, there’s one big change that is “under the hood”. That is the ability for WordPress to automatically update itself when new versions are released. In theory, always having the latest and greatest (and most secure) version of WordPress on your site does sound great. However, we’re going to turn off this feature on our client sites for now. The concern is with plugins; we’re concerned that plugins could be rendered incompatible by an automatic update.
Our process has to always test plugins and updates on a development server before we deploy them to your live server. We’re going to keep doing this – using the live update feature – to ensure compatibility and optimal site uptime.
If you have a question about site updates, support, or maintenance fees, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your business!
